UTT Outreach Strengthens Regional Power Plant Operations Expertise

The University of Trinidad and Tobago’s, Outreach and Industry Relations (Outreach) Unit continues to strengthen workforce capability across the Caribbean through industry-responsive professional training. Most recently, UTT Outreach delivered a customised Power Plant Operator – Level 1 Training programme for the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC), an association of electric energy providers serving the Caribbean, Central America and South America.
Delivered in St. Vincent from June 15 to 19, 2026, the intensive 40-hour course focused on power station operations, electrical power systems and diesel power plants. The programme brought together energy-sector professionals, primarily from St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited (VINLEC), with additional participation from Montserrat Utilities Limited (MUL).
The course combined technical instruction, simulations and practical workshops to strengthen the application of power plant operations principles in the workplace.
Through its partnership with CARILEC, UTT Outreach continues to support the development of specialised expertise for safe, reliable and efficient power operations throughout the region. The programme also reflects Unit’s commitment to designing customised training solutions that address industry priorities and strengthen workforce capability across the Caribbean and beyond.
